WTF

I was watching Lockup, because it's one of my favorite shows,
when something really got my goat.
They were doing a special on "WTF."
Workout. Tattoos. Food.
All things prison, right?
Working out, whatever, I can be down with that because for
the most part they're dudes and
some dudes need to be macho to make up for their lack of brains.
Tattoos, again, whatever.  If you're into sharing sharpened
staples that pierce other peoples bodies
and are loaded with blood that's your prob.
FOOD!  That's where they got me.

When you go to PRISON, it's usually not because you did something awesome.  When you go to prison you lose your freedom, most likely because you took someone elses away.  These inmates where complaining about the food and  how sub-par it was.  Complaining that even their animals wouldn't eat the food, how could someone feed this to a person.  Um, Hello. You're being punished.  Did you think that you were going to get steak and lobster every night?  My feeling is, don't like it, don't eat it. 

So I did some research.  In the state of California it costs and AVERAGE of $47,000 annually to house an inmate (each meal costs about $0.20).  You can see the break down here.  There are about 170,000 inmates in this lovely state.  Lets do the math, shall we?  That's $7,990,000,000! 

So basically, when these law breaking peeps start paying for their stays
then they can complain.
Until then, I can't be mad that they are serving
items that are not even identifiable.

Turning 24!

It's been over a month since I turned 24 and to me, birthdays are special.  I'm sure it has something to do with my birthday being so close to Christmas but I really enjoy when people acknowledge my birthday and not its-your-birthday-oh-and-merry-christmas-too!  To me, your birthday is YOUR day and if I can make it a little more special I will!

This year was a little different.  Now that I have a real job it's not as easy to just have the day off or get someone to cover your shift... no, no.  I couldn't really have the whole day off but I was able to switch shifts with someone at work.  When I woke up in the morning my mama had decorated my door and it was really sweet.  I worked 9 to 5 (instead of waking up late, going to breakfast, getting a pedicure, going shopping, ect.)  and then came home and got ready to go over to Lizz and Eddies. 

We had a low-key Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and it was fun!



(We have a joke with Eddie that we are like Sister Wives since it's 1-4 so we each have our claim, I am the pregnant one, Robin! haha)


I got some good pressies this year too!

 My parentals got me a new DVD player which I mucho needed and a book that my mom had signed.

Jen gave me Redken Real Slim Supreme which I really wanted, Java eyeshadow and some Victorias secrets!

My sista-in-law got my a cute top and earings.

Lauren got me a willow tree.

Mandy gave me a scarf and an iTunes gc

Lizz and Eddie gave me an iTunes gc

White Enchiladas

My friends and I have a tradition.
Every month or so we like to have "family dinner."
Jersey Shore style.
For realsies.

We make dinner
catch up and just have a good night
together
as friends.
It's something I really look forward to
with all of our busy schedules
it sometimes gets hard
to make time for eachother.












Usually my friend and her husband do all the cooking
but this time I did.

I found the recipie on Pinterest
and went to work.

Cooking isn't really something I've
done a whole lot of.
So I was a little nervous but it
turned out really well.
I mean
one of the guests at dinner ate 5!

Week Three

I think we are all guilty of it.
Do something that we shouldn't but tell ourselves
no one knows.
Like when you're on a diet
and you go to McDonalds but tell yourself
"Who cares I want it and no one will know."

Maybe it's not always about what we eat
a boy we shouldn't date
a place we shouldn't go
a bill we should pay.

Being honest with yourself it such a
good start to getting on the right track and we all should
do it or try and be better at it.
I know I need to.

After all
honest is the best policy.

December Birchbox

I love getting my Birchbox!
This last one had some flight delays
and a long layover in Dallas, so I ended up getting it in
January!!

Hair treatment
And body tape so you won't have nip-slips!

Pretty fun box this month, as usual
and I can't wait to try out the mask!

Number Two

For the 2nd week of the year, here is number 2 of the Things to Start Doing for Yourself...

Start facing your problems head on. – It isn’t your problems that define you, but how you react to them and recover from them. Problems will not disappear unless you take action. Do what you can, when you can, and acknowledge what you’ve done. It’s all about taking baby steps in the right direction, inch by inch. These inches count, they add up to yards and miles in the long run.



EVERYBODY has problems.
I know that I, myself am guilty of trying to hide from them rather than face them,
example, My Great Financial Depression of 2007-2009.
Some problems I face and can see and appreciate those trials more as I look back and learn.
Then there are others that because I chose to not deal with them
as an adult,
I continue to suffer from.


So here is to ALL of us, raising our adult glasses and taking steps in the right direction,
whichever direction that many be!

12 by 12 Check-Up!

If you remember my post here,  I made a 12 things to accomplish by 2012 annnnnnd now it's time to check it out.

  • Finish my room. Decide on a paint color, get my bed... be done
(I'm not finished. I did make my pillows but I'm waiting to get my new bed.) 
  • Finish buying my tires. I already bought two, now I need two more.
(I def. didn't do this. Fail.) 
  • Spend quality time with my sisters.
(I DID this.  Thanksgiving with Chels, a weekend with Lauren and another week  with Lauren and Amanda)
  • Have my savings goal met.
(Fail!)
  • Read a book about Christ. The season tis coming.
(I did do this!)
  • Find somesort of routine for my week. Needs to include working out.
(Fail!)
  • Make a fun craft.
(I made helped Lauren make an apron for all my cooking and also pillow covers.)
  • Try a new recipe. From this blog.
(I have made SOOOOO many recipes.)
  • Volunteer somewhere in the community.
(Fail!)
  • Go Skiing
(There was NO snow when I was in Utah.)
  • Make my 2012 financial goals
(Done!)
  • Be a better friend

Twenty-Twelve

It's a new year and I am putting my blogging hiatus to an end. 

So basically I read my horoscope for the year and it's pretty awesome and very career oriented.  I normally don't pay much attention to that stuff but this years is fab so I'm accepting it. 

I would try and do some updating on the last month or so, but I don't really feel into that right now so I'm going to share some of my thoughts on the year to come.

This year I am going to focus on doing more things to improve myself.  I found this article titled, 30 Things to Start Doing for Yourself, (perfect title, right?).  Here is my first task...

1.  Start spending time with the right people. – These are the people you enjoy, who love and appreciate you, and who encourage you to improve in healthy and exciting ways. They are the ones who make you feel more alive, and not only embrace who you are now, but also embrace and embody who you want to be, unconditionally.


I feel like I pretty much have this under my belt.  I do feel though,
like I don't spend enough time.
We all get busy with school and work and LIFE, but I need to make MORE time.
It's so easy for me to spend the day in my room
reading my life away and while that is enriching my brain
it's not doing much for the people around me,
so I'm def. going to work on that.
